Summary This position is located at Departmental Offices,Domestic Finance-Office of Financial Research. As a/an Quantitative Analyst - Interdisciplinary, you will serve as a Quantitative Analyst in the Office of Financial Research (OFR), Department of the Treasury, reporting to the Associate Director in an assigned section in the OFRs Research and Analysis Center. Duties The following are the duties of this position at the OR-53. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Plan, formulate, conduct, evaluate, and carry out a wide range of financial and technical research and analysis relating to assigned duties and responsibilities. Provide data, information, research, quantitative, and technical support on issues relevant to the OFRs research agenda. Ensure the provision of authoritative data, analysis, and information to the Director, the Deputy Director of the Research and Analysis Center, the Associate Director, OFR Researchers, and, through them, to FSOC members and other senior FSOC officials as requested on all matters pertaining to their sector. Establish and maintain, with others, data and information systems, including information sharing arrangements with State, Federal, and foreign regulatory authorities; obtain data and information jointly with such authorities; obtain information from public sources; independently collect information and data, when necessary and in accordance with the Act. Participate in interagency working groups on questions pertaining to assigned issue areas; prepare replies to inquiries from the general public and members of Congress regarding assigned subject areas; consult with other professionals within the OFR, other Federal agencies, and outside the U.S. Government, and with Congressional staff on various financial issues. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the OR-53, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the OR-52 grade level in the Federal service . Specialized Experience for this position includes: Independently utilizing quantitative methods from statistics, mathematics, or econometrics to research, analyze, develop reports and presentations addressing technical problems related to financial markets or financial institutions. AND Querying large data sets; utilizing SQL (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and NoSQL (HDFS/Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Impala, etc.) databases; with experience programming in Python and at least one of the following: R, Spark, Matlab, Stata, C, Perl, or Java; AND Experience independently performing analysis of economic, financial, or asset-pricing data using Stata, SPSS, SAS, or econometric methods. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the OR-52, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the OR-51 grade level in the Federal service . Specialized Experience for this position includes: Using quantitative methods from statistics, mathematics, or econometrics to conduct research and analysis of technical problems related to financial markets or financial institutions; and developing written reports and presentations of methods and findings from the analyses, AND Querying data sets; working with SQL (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and/or NoSQL (HDFS/Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Impala, etc.) databases; and programming in Python with experience in one of the following: R, Spark, Matlab, Stata, C, Perl, or Java; AND Analyzing economic, financial, or asset-pricing data using Stata, SPSS, SAS, or econometric methods. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the OR-51, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the OR-43 grade level in the Federal service . Specialized Experience for this position includes: Experience using, under the supervision and direction of senior staff, quantitative methods from statistics, mathematics, or econometrics to research and analyze issues related to financial markets or financial institutions producing written reports and presentations of methods and findings AND Experience querying data sets; working with SQL (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and/or NoSQL (HDFS/Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Impala, etc.) databases; and programming in one or more of the following: Python, R, Spark, Matlab, Stata, C, Perl, or Java; AND Experience performing, under the supervision of senior staff, analysis of economic, financial, or asset-pricing data using Stata, SPSS, SAS, or econometric methods. OR 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree as described in the individual occupation requirements specified in this announcement. OR You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
