Trinity is currently hiring a full-time Advocate, within our SNUG program. The SNUG Outreach Program is an evidence-based, violence reduction initiative that identifies and interrupts the causes of gun violence. This position is in collaboration with Unity House (Troy) and will be housed at the Troy SNUG location. It will serve all of Albany and Rensselaer counties and reports to the SNUG Social Worker. What will you be doing as a SNUG Advocate? Establish and maintain professional relationships with community members, families, service providers, funding sources and other Trinity and Unity House staff. Collaborate with all team members and systems to ensure activities are coordinated around the completion of each community member's service plan. Promote community education designed to bring forth a community norm of non-violence and advocates for the provision of trauma-informed care across various systems. Adhere to the OJJDP (Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention) Comprehensive Gang Model and the SNUG work model. This includes providing advocacy, managing cases and crisis intervention services, and making appropriate referrals. Participate with Unity House and Trinity in all relevant organizational meetings and trainings. Conduct intake needs assessment, utilizing the Children and Adolescence Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment. Complete service plans with clients in conjunction with SNUG and Unity House. Ensure families are receiving services to resolve the trauma resulting from violent incidents, including the coordination of trauma systems therapy to youth participants and their non-offending parent, caretakers, and family members. Conduct regularly scheduled visits with community members, in-home, community or office. Schedule and participate in treatment review and other service provider meetings. Encourage parent participation in program and agency activities. Build new partnerships with Troy hospitals and other crime victim service providers, to meet the needs of at-risk youth and ensure that victims and their families can access SNUG services. Working with the SNUG social work team, conduct outreach and prevention trainings to increase community awareness and ability to provide violence reduction and prevention support and services to youth and non-offending parents, including prevention education around guns. Alongside the SNUG social work team, work to regularly debrief, process traumatic incidents, and manage the day-to-day stress of this work. Complete biannual reports on status of grant objectives. What are your skills and experience? 1+ year direct experience working with children and families in a treatment or community-based organization. Bachelor's degree, preferred. Experience working with individuals and families from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of clinical concepts focusing on the strengths of the families served. Clean and valid NYS Driver's License. Schedule flexibility, so you are available to support SNUG team in emergency situations regarding incidents with staff or participants, attend SNUG response and other community events, and canvass the community, if needed.
