Radiology Technician, Atlanta, GA OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARYOperates XRay and fluoroscopic equipment to produce routine radiographs of designatedportions of the human body for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Thisposition is characterized by the ability to perform intravenous, subdural, and arterial radiographicstudies and work in hospital areas requiring autonomy and indirect supervision. The RegisteredRadiologic Technologist/Screen Atlanta works with a female population over thirty five (35)years of age.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESA. RADIOLOGY1. Inserts intravenous lines in preparation for radiologic studies.2. Performs imaging for myelograms and therapeutic chemotherapy, venograms,arthrograms, and other studies requiring intravenous or subdural injection ofcontrast medium.3. May assist physician with biopsy and aspiration procedures, practicing steriletechnique as required. Sets up sterile trays with all supplies and instrumentsrequired for procedures.4. Provides on-call support for Operating Room and GI Lab as scheduled.5. Provides assistance with transportation of patients to and fromEmergency Room and In-Patient areas.6. Performs portable x-ray imaging as ordered.ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn addition to the duties listed above, all Registered Radiologic Technologists will be required to performthe following:1. Regularly performs the duties and responsibilities of the Radiologic Technologists. Performsroutine radiographic examinations in accordance with specific operating instructions and safetystandards.2. Determines proper technical factors and adjusts radiographic equipment accordingly.3. Assesses patient condition throughout procedure and observes for adverse reactions.Recognizes and responds to emergency situations according to departmental procedures.4. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies andprocedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafeconditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuryaccident to manager.5. Other duties as assigned by supervision.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED1. Graduate from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.2. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).3. Ability to deal tactfully and pleasantly with various types of patients, visitors, physicians,and other personnel.4. Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED1. Prior experience in diagnostic radiology.WORKING CONDITIONSPossible exposure to infectious/contagious diseases, hazardous chemicals and materials, needlesticks,blood and body fluids. All employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccinationseries.
