Job Summary: The Waterjet Operator I is responsible for producing high-quality waterjet parts by setting up and operating CNC waterjet machines. This role requires prior experience and an understanding of CNC equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Proficiently in operating machinery and equipment, including waterjet machines, grinders, sanders, tumblers, burr whips, jitter bugs, and various manual tools. Identifies, selects, and correctly utilizes nozzles, offsets, heads, and tooling. Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures, and removes clamps, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on waterjet machines and equipment Identify opportunities for process improvement Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and workstations Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts per specifications using basic measuring equipment Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions Perform other duties as assigned TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Basic understanding of CNC machine operations Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning Basic ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, gauge pins) Basic ability to work with shop tools correctly (Sockets, wrenches, pliers, etc) Basic knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics, and measurement Familiarity and ability to identify different material types (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Titanium, etc) Ability to use latter’s, baskets, and safety harnesses correctly and safely. Ability to use pallet jack, floor dolly, and other moving equipment correctly and safely. Ability to get certified to drive and operate company forklift. BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates motivation and accountability to achieve individual and department goals Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members Possesses initiative and personal accountability to meet work demands and work effectively under pressure with limited supervision Grasps basic concepts, anticipate possible problems and generate solutions with basic problem-solving skills Exercises sound judgment in ambiguous situations when time is critical Ability to respond and adapt quickly to changing circumstances and facility needs Possesses an attention to detail and commitment to effectively produce quality work Demonstrates teamwork by sharing knowledge and helping where needed EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED required A minimum of 1 year of CNC operation preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout a shift Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout a workday, occasionally 50+lbs with a team lift Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast-paced environment Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme.
