SALARY: $70,000 ANNUALLY - $33.6538 HOURLYAPPLY HERE: https://elliscountycscd.applicantpool.com/jobs/1148525 THE POSITION: The Supervisor provides direct supervision of the day-to day operations of the departmental unit and oversight of quality and quantity of work produced. Participates in personnel matters including disciplinary actions and resolution of departmental disputes. The Supervisor is an integral part of the daily operations and success of the CSCD's mission and will regularly direct the work of staff assigned to their unit. The Supervisor will provide supervision of the daily activities of a departmental unit, and the staff assigned to the unit. Plan the workload, duties, and activities of the staff assigned to the unit. Support and enforce the policies and standards set out by the CSCD and the State of Texas. Provide ongoing performance feedback. The individual, who reports to the assistant director, must maintain professional conduct, appearance, and confidentiality of information. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs caseload audits and provides feedback to staff. Performs case staffings with staff. Conducts performance appraisals/evaluations for staff. Review and approve, violation reports, modification orders, transfers, fee waivers and all other documents as submitted by staff. Assists with the development of program descriptions and budgets within the department. Reviews unit reports monthly to ensure compliance with CSCD policies and CJAD standards. Ensures compliance with State and/or Federal grants. Participates in planning, organizing and supervising various aspects of the departmental operations. Participates in updating departmental polices as needed. Provides coaching and counseling with staff. Informs staff of changes in departmental policies and procedures. Assures adequate staffing of unit at all times by coordinating staff's schedules. Reviews, approves, and denies leave and compensation time requests when submitted by staff. Reviews and approves staff's timesheets. Write's disciplinary actions when required and makes recommendations on type of discipline deemed appropriate. May supervise a caseload as workload demands. Works with other supervisors to ensure new hires receive the appropriate orientation and training required. Ensures (and may conduct) Pre-Sentence Investigations are appropriately completed. Ensures the needs of the Courts are met in a timely and professional manner. Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with the judiciary, court personnel, attorneys, law enforcement, social agencies and others concerned with the mission of the CSCD. Attends training to enhance job knowledge and skills. Maintains the minimum requirements of a CSO. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Social or Behavioral Sciences or directly related field AND a minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Texas Community Supervision Officer. Must meet and maintain CJAD training hours. Have a current Texas driver's license or be eligible to obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of hire. Cannot be employed as a peace officer or work as a reserve or volunteer police officer. Must undergo a background check. Cannot have a criminal history with disqualifying events. NECESSARY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: For this position the following skills, knowledge, and abilities must be demonstrated at a level of proficiency or achieved within a normal and customary time. Knowledge and understanding of the Criminal Justice System. Knowledge and understanding of CJAD standards. Knowledge and understanding of Code of Criminal Procedures Article 42A- Community Supervision. Knowledge and understanding of Department Policy and Procedures. Knowledge of Evidence Based Practices. Knowledge of Management and supervisory principles, practices and techniques. Knowledge of case management techniques. Knowledge of Spreadsheets, word processing, and databases. Ability to effectively communicate and/or convey important information/concepts to a diverse audience, orally and in writing. Ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with others including but not limited to Judiciary, staff, stakeholders, other county, state, and federal agencies, and community groups or organizations. Skills in complex problem-solving and decision-making. Ability to evaluate and analyze complex information or issues using sound evidence, reasoning to draw logical conclusions. Effective interpersonal, training, negotiation, conflict resolution and leadership skills. Ability to direct, motivate, train, develop and evaluate staff. Detail Oriented. Investigative skills. Ability to utilize and teach time management skills. Ability to work effectively with co-workers, employees, and administration, in a professional manner. Ability to work independently, while maintaining confidentiality. Ability to produce accurate work and meet established deadlines. Ability to work effectively and professionally under high pressure circumstances. PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and transport case files or other items. The job demands intense focus and visual acuity to ensure accuracy while multi-tasking. Must be able to CSCD related items weighing 20 lbs.
