Salary: $103,889-$128,117 Grade 28 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a full time Deputy Administrative Director. Reporting to the Administrative Director and the Area Directors, the incumbent will be responsible for aiding the financial and administrative management of Area Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, which includes significant funded research, a large residency training program, and an NIH funded research training grant. This position has responsibility across three entities, Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene (RFMH), New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI), and Columbia University Department of Psychiatry (DOP), and helps to oversee approximately 200 faculty and staff. The Deputy Administrative Director will coordinate with the Administrative Director in ensuring assigned business units are financially viable and are compliant with all applicable regulatory and transactional policies, procedures, and processes. They will successfully interface with the Foundation, State and Department's centralized budget and fiscal operations, ensuring that all budget and fiscal work is carried out smoothly and with strict compliance. The incumbent will ensure successful research management of grants/contracts within his/her area, collaborating with PIs and the Foundation and Department's centralized research pre-and-post award functions. They will directly supervise 1 to 2 employees. The incumbent will be responsible for the successful management of human resource and faculty affairs within assigned areas, interfacing with the centralized functions related to faculty affairs and employee human resources. The complexities of this position are considerable. The human resource management is complicated due to the varied scope of the positions within the Divisions, including faculty, research positions and other professional and unionized staff. The sources and uses of funds are large and represent a number of complex budgets. There is a large volume of grant activity, with many types and kinds of grants and contracts. There is substantial overlap and coordination between RFMH, NYSPI, and DOP. Duties and Responsibilities: Work with the Area Director and the Administrative Director to develop and articulate a strategy for cost containment and improved operational efficiency. Develop strategies for creating successful grant proposals; assist faculty in preparation of grant applications and subsequent funding contracts; assist new faculty recruits in developing their grant portfolio. Aid execution of effort reporting and certification processes to ensure departmental compliance. In coordination with the Administrative Director, the incumbent will help ensure appropriate sponsored projects management and financial reporting for all active grants; monitor actual results compared to approved budgets; identify shortfalls; recommend steps to correct shortfalls. Prepare and track salary allocations; coordinate timely resolution of suspense, overdrafts, and closing of open commitments. They will also help oversee all administrative aspects of the residency training program and T32 training grant. Execute the faculty appointment and promotion processes; aid the human resources function in collaboration with RFMH, NYSPI and DOP human resource offices; help build a high-functioning and fully trained administrative team. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field At least 4 years of administrative experience in a large complex academic or research setting working directly with pre-award and post-award research budgets Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree in business administration or healthcare administration is preferred In accordance with NYS Office of Mental Health regulations, RFMH employees are required to be fully vaccinated .
