AWC is hiring a full time HR Generalist at our Chicago location. This position would be responsible for our 2 Chicago locations. These locations are at 130th & Torrence and 122nd & Torrence. Apply Today for FAST consideration!Summary of Position: The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll administration, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.​A position description is written to describe work currently organized and performed by a fully qualified associate, one who possesses knowledge, skills, and experience required by the position, and should be on file for each regular full and part-time position Essential Functions & Duties: Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook /work rules and/or the policies and procedures manual. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems. Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary. Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees. Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; may write and place advertisements. Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.​ Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed. Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database. Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Provides support and assistance to help the facility, peers, coworkers and associates function in a team environment. Organized and detail-oriented. Communication. Consultation. Ethical Practice. Global & Cultural Awareness. HR Expertise. Relationship Management. Education, Experience & Minimum Requirements: SHRM -CP or above or PHR required. At least 3 years working in a Union Environment. 3 years' experience with writing position Statements and grievance responses. Organized, detail-oriented, and multitasking abilities are required. The candidate must possess an excellent level of computer skills and the ability to use Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to meet and deal effectively with customers, associates, and general public. Ability to function effectively under pressure. Candidates must have at least 3 years of applicable experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry. Experience with employee onboarding, administering benefits and payroll is strongly preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required. Must be willing to submit to a background check review, credit check and drug screen. Preferred Requirements: Experience running payroll for a facility.
