We offer to the public 60 forest preserves, 145 miles of trails, 47 miles of rivers and streams, and 6 nature and cultural centers. We have 6 million visitors each year. The District's mission is, "to acquire and hold lands containing forests, prairies, wetlands and associated plant communities or lands capable of being restored to such natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure and recreation of it's citizens. Job Purpose This position prepares food for guests at a golf clubhouse and performs kitchen operations activities in accordance with menu standards, facility practices, and state and local food safety requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workstation including equipment, tables, shelves, and floors Store food properly and monitor the age and condition of the food products in order to maintain the highest quality Prepare all food items according to recipe standards and guest specifications, and inspect the food quality for consistency Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production Minimize waste to ensure cost control Prepare all orders in a timely manner by maintaining a properly stocked and clean workspace and meeting all prep time demands Perform kitchen operation ensuring proper use and cleaning of equipment, utensils, dishes, pot/pans, and storage areas. Keep work areas clean and sanitary. Ensure food equipment is in good working order and report any needed repairs to supervisor Maintain a positive and professional attitude with both coworkers and guests Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the FPDDC, DuPage Golf and Health Department for all health and safety regulations Perform all opening and closing tasks Perform other duties as required Related Experience: Six (6) months experience as a cook in high-volume kitchen environment preferred, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum Qualifications, special training or other license, certification,etc.: Must be 18 years of age at hire , ability to obtain Illinois Food Handler Training and Certification within 30 days of employment. Schedule and Availability: FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE; Availability to work should include opening and closing shifts, weekends and holidays, based on customer traffic and business needs Knowledge Of: Knowledge of sanitation standards and food health safety procedures. Skills In: Basic to Advanced knife skills, frying, sauteing, baking, and grilling. Ability to understand and communicate English to read and expedite recipes. Knowledge of kitchen equipment such as stove, broilers, ovens, etc. Ability to work the various kitchen stations The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is an EEO employer.
