Department: Capital Programs, Office of the President Reports To: Associate Director of Sustainability & Energy Management Position Overview: The Water Conservation Intern will provide support to the Capital Programs Department of the School of Visual Arts. The Water Conservation Intern will analyze and optimize water consumption across a portfolio of 1M square feet in 18 buildings. The Water Conservation Intern will work with the Capital Programs Department on the following tasks. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform historical analysis of campus water consumption and generate a report Support the deployment of water audits that identify water conservation measures and other opportunities such as water re-use and the electrification of domestic hot water Update Energy Portfolio Manager with water meter and historical water consumption data Identify frontage-billed properties and support their transition to metered properties through incentive programs and grants offered by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and NYS Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) Provide other general support to the SVA's Capital Program Department on an as-needed basis Qualifications: Graduate-level education preferred but not required in sustainability management, water management, environmental or civil engineering • Possesses the ability to manipulate and analyze large and complex datasets • Familiarity with water management best practices for buildings • Familiarity with local policy, laws and incentives targeting water conservation Knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications and virtual conferencing platforms Knowledge or ability to learn Energy Star Portfolio Manager, Procore, GRITS Demonstrate the ability to be a critical-thinker and problem-solver Thrives in collaborative and team environments Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills Compensation: $10,000 Stipend Working at SVA School of Visual Arts has been a leader in the education of artists, designers and creative professionals for more than seven decades.
