A Brief Overview Performs work in the electrical maintenance group with a focus on low voltage systems. Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing cable infrastructure in a low voltage environment. The ideal candidate will be able to meet the physical demands of the work site as well as provide excellent customer service. Individuals will have a background in installation, construction, operating power tools, and interpreting drawings, plans, diagrams, schematics, with an understanding of specifications. What you will do Uniformed Standards Maintains an identifiable professional attire (uniform) at all times, including using name tags and identification cards. Attends mandatory session's meetings/in-services. Reports any incident that seems unusual deficient to immediate supervisor and/or Security. Corrects and/or reports unsafe unsecured or unclean environment to immediate supervisor and/or Environmental, Health and Safety, and Facilities Department. Participates in staff meetings, committees, projects and teams in a collaborative manner. Is recognized as an "informed" participant by peers and completes assignments on time. Reviews and contributes to the attainment of departmental and institutional goals annually. Participates and contributes to team projects. Keep self and work area neat and organized. Always takes breaks away from patient and family areas. Is responsible for preventative maintenance inspection, trouble shooting, repairing, installation, and commissioning of all electrical equipment and components as directed including but not limited to: Tracing cabling, data, fiber optic multi conductor twisted pair. Installing, terminating and repairing plenum, PVC and fiber cable. Installing and repairing low-voltage electrical equipment and fixtures. Installing various types of raceway and cable tray systems. Performing routine maintenance on electrical wiring and systems. Complying with all applicable codes, standards, and industry guidelines. Firestopping penetrations and installations. Supporting maintenance of the electrical equipment and power/distribution systems (service, switchgear, transformers, generators, ATS, UPS, power panels, lighting, grounding and bonding, motor control centers, fire alarm, communications, CCTV, access control, and security.) Is responsible for the performance of the following maintenance and operational responsibilities: Completing and documenting work request utilizing the Facilities (CMMS) Computerized Maintenance Management System. Is responsible for compliance, implementation and operation of the CHOP electrical safety program, and NFPA 70 E, Standard for electrical Safety in the work place. Working knowledge of NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 70E, 99, 101, 110, 111. Is responsible for operating knowledge of the low voltage electrical distribution systems through a validation competency exam annually. General maintenance duties outside of electrical core as directed and necessary within individual qualifications. As directed, work with electrical subcontractors, equipment vendors, and specialty technicians in maintenance and operation of electrical equipment and gear. Is responsible for proficient use of low voltage electrical testing equipment and tools as directed and validated through annual competency evaluation. Maintains professional development and an understanding and knowledge of critical information in a rapidly changing industry. Willingness to work days, nights & weekends as required and on demand. Willing to work in tight, confined areas. Ability to carry heavy loads as needed. Carry and climb ladders as needed. May be required to drive company vehicles and / or drive between maintenance sites Education Qualifications High School Diploma / GED - Required Technical Diploma Low Voltage electrical maintenance - Required Experience Qualifications At least five (5) years working experience in institutional or industrial low voltage electrical installation and maintenance - Required Skills and Abilities Ability to operate a company vehicle and/or be insured on a CHOP Policy Experience with CMMS software, email and windows applications. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Understanding of network wiring (Cat 5e, and above cabling and termination techniques) Siemens certification required. Installation of cable pathway systems (cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings). Knowledge of installing, terminating, testing, labeling and documenting horizontal, backbone and other cables. Dressing and routing cable into telecommunications closets, modular furniture and other work area outlets. Building out telecommunication and equipment rooms. Firestopping various types of cable penetrations in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Understanding of low voltage electronic circuitry and terminology (relay, contacts, AC-DC voltage, resistance, ability to read a schematic, etc.) Knowledge of RF technology, DSS and CATV Systems. Understanding of electrical equipment and power/distribution systems (service, switchgear, transformers, generators, ATS, UPS, power panels, lighting, grounding and bonding, motor control centers, fire alarm, communications, CCTV, access control, and security.) Experience in installation, construction, operating power tools, interpreting drawings, plans, diagrams, schematics, with an understanding of specifications, and reading technical manuals. Aptitude or background in working with electronics and communications technology. Ability to distinguish the full spectrum of colors in order to work with color coded wiring. BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International, Inc.) training and/or certifications preferred.
