The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health plan operations, managed care, regulatory compliance, and provider contracting within the healthcare industry.Job Duties:Provide legal counsel to healthcare clients on strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, asset and equity acquisitions, venture capital investments, and joint ventures.Advise on corporate governance matters, including entity formations, capital raises, and operational strategies for health plans.Conduct legal research and analysis on state and federal laws relating to health plans, managed care, Medicare risk adjustment, STARS ratings, Medicaid matters, and behavioral health parity.Draft and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to health plan operations and provider contracting.Assist clients in regulatory compliance, including interpreting and applying laws and regulations affecting health plans.Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to ensure comprehensive legal support and strategic advice for clients.Communicate directly with clients to understand their needs, provide legal guidance, and manage expectations effectively.Take ownership of projects, manage workflows, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.Requirements:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the State Bar of Illinois (active and in good standing).4-6 years of experience in health plan operations, regulation, managed care, and state and federal laws related to health plans.In-depth knowledge of provider contracting issues, Medicare risk adjustment methodologies, STARS ratings, Medicaid regulations, and behavioral health parity.Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory requirements.Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate legal concepts clearly and effectively.Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Outstanding academic credentials and a demonstrated commitment to professional development.Preferred Skills:Experience working with healthcare clients, including health insurers, managed care organizations, and healthcare providers.Familiarity with healthcare transactional matters and corporate governance issues.Previous experience in a reputable law firm environment or in-house legal department within the healthcare sector.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Admission to the State Bar of Illinois.
