ARLINGTON-MANSFIELD AREA YMCA Fishing Instructor POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Bus Driver at the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct fishing lessons for summer camp participants for the week of June 10th-June 14th. Teach basic fishing techniques, including casting, knot tying, baiting, and fish handling. Educate clients on local fishing regulations and ethical fishing practices. Demonstrate and oversee proper fishing techniques during trips Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants and colleagues at all levels of the organization. Creates a safe environment in which others feel welcome and respected. Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked. Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed. Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and records all information, such as gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor. Follows all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the YMCA (e.g., safety or emergency procedures, behavior guidance strategies, child abuse prevention policies); makes ADA accommodations where appropriate; maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records. Reports all incidents or potential safety hazards by completing and submitting incident reports per AMA YMCA policy and procedures. Applies all YMCA policies and procedures and exemplifies the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. All other duties as assigned. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: Collaboration Inclusion QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 18 years old. At least one-year work experience as a fishing instructor. Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to safety around water and fishing. Desire and ability to work with children Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents. Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
