Technical Writer - Enterprise Web ApplicationOnsite Contractor Role Local to New York City Full-time 40 hours per weekJune 1 - Dec 31, 2024 (with potential option to extend)Dom & Tom is looking for a Technical Writer to join our team in our New York City office. This person will be responsible for creating and designing technical documents such as manuals, reports, brochures, or articles. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer. He/she is able to convey technical concepts in simple, clear instructions with detailed images such as charts or diagrams. He/she will be intimately familiar with the product features and functionalities. Responsibilities: Document – Create documentation, guidelines, and instructions for the technical program or software. Understand the audience intended for the material and the requirements of the project. Collaborate and review – Collaborate with team members such as software or hardware engineers to understand any specific process needed. Work with designers to create illustrations, graphs, visual aids or charts to assist the user in understanding the product. Receive feedback on documents and make changes as needed or suggested by other users. This is a role that will be placed at one of our top enterprise Financial Services Client. Note: This position has on-site requirements. New York City Based Applicants Only. Must have these writing and editing skills: Strong technical writing and editing skills Strong attention to detail Familiarity with standard style guidelines Desired subject matter experience: Financial institution experience; capital market experience is optimal Data connectivity experience As a Technical Writer, you will be creating, revising, and converting content, as well as complying with overall document structure, defined formats, and layouts. Responsibilities: Convert legacy technical specifications to html-based delivery using WordPress. Review and proofread technical documents that are already created to identify gaps and obsolete information. Document new product features and create release notes. Manage and revise documents to ensure consistency of style, structure, layout, and format. Comply with established guidelines and procedures. Write informational product materials. Handle ad hoc writing as needed to support the Product Team. Bring new ideas to the table on how to work with a team of writers to execute the overall deployment strategy. Leverage internal tools to innovate ways to streamline repetitive steps. Provide strategy communicating product features in a global environment. Additional preferences: Professional writing and editing training—coursework, diploma, or degree in technical writing, business writing, or similar. Experience working in a technology start-up style environment. Experience in a Lean/Agile SDLC development environment. Experience with WordPress. Familiarity with content management best practices. Cooperative team player. Strong capability to take initiative and follow through.
