Job description: The duties of the position include serving as a consultant to child welfare casework staff regarding various medical conditions that may be present in children and/or adults receiving services through the Agency. Responsibilities will include: Being available to casework staff to answer questions and provide medical information; Attending staffings and/or Family Involvement Meetings; Accompanying caseworkers on home visits, visits with children and youth in hospitals, foster homes, group homes, Residential Treatment Centers, and Rehabilitation centers to assess medical needs and support the child or adult to assure their medical needs are met; Writing reports or letters regarding the medical needs of children and adults; Coordination of first-aid training for staff and resource home providers; and Maintain and monitor the upkeep of the first aid kits and AED machines in various offices. Qualifications: Candidate should strictly adhere to client confidentiality. Ideal candidates should be familiar with the child welfare system, have knowledge of medical needs resulting from child abuse and neglect, have experience working with a variety of populations, and have scheduling flexibility as working after standard business hours and on weekends may be necessary. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in: Working with adults and children with chronic healthcare needs; Navigating various health care and insurance systems; Understanding the medical implications of child abuse and neglect; Working with children who are medically fragile; Understanding the needs of Substance Exposed Newborns; and Conducting home-based or field-based service delivery. Current license in good standing with the Maryland State Board of Nursing. Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's of Nursing degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience working in a community or school-based setting with children and families. Candidate References: A minimum of three (3) references on letterhead baring, name, address and telephone of current or former employer. All references must state length of employment and job duties.
