Given a set of digital requirements as input, the machine automatically computationally engineers, additively manufactures, and assembles any complex structure. - The system is able to move seamlessly between manufacturing different vehicle models. Purpose of Job: - Working at the intersection of hardware, software, and electro-optic systems, enabling the next level of productivity and material quality with additive manufacturing. Divergent is seeking a forward-looking and innovative senior team member who will help our organization shape the future of additive machinery. This individual will drive the implementation of new factory-ready systems that will reliably and repeatedly function in a demanding production environment. - - Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards: - Develop conceptual designs/architecture for electrical components and integrated systems for Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF). - - Lead system level integration and validation of design efforts (testing and troubleshooting). This may involve building custom testbenches or debugging issues on the final product. - - Analyze power consumption, transient behaviors, and other aspects of machine DC and AC systems. - - Lead electrical design decision-making and sign off on designs. - - Provide technical guidance and leadership to staff electrical engineers. - - Interface with software, process Monitoring and mechanical teams for machine system integration. - - Manage generation, quality, and organization of all electrical design data for active projects including detailed electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, simulation results, calculations, etc. - - Lead electrical specification and requirements generation for new machinery being fielded in a factory setting. - - - Work Environment: - Office, light manufacturing - Requirements: - - Top of Form - Education: - BS+ in Electrical Engineering or equivalent - - Licenses/Certificates: - - - Experience: - Strongly desired: - - 10+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering - Previous experience leading engineering teams designing industrial machinery. - - Experience designing, developing, and testing analog and digital circuits (e.g. generating electrical schematics, analyzing circuits, breadboarding prototypes, etc.) - Has previously specified/selected sensors and actuators for closed-loop control of mechanisms and fluid systems. - - Familiarity interfacing sensors/actuators with real-time computing platforms - PLCs, microcontrollers, microprocessors running an RTOS - Experience with multi-sensor data acquisition. - - Familiarity with common industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Profinet IRT, Powerlink). - - Beneficial: - - Experience or training regarding EMI/EMC. - Knowledge of electrical certification for industrial devices in Western countries (UL, CE). - - Previous work on custom PCB design, fabrication, and testing. - - Designing for extensive product lifecycles, such as a decade or more. - - Previous design experience with high-reliability or safety-critical systems. Example industries include medical, aerospace, automotive, nuclear, and chemical manufacturing. - - - Skills: - Ability to write clear system requirements based on the product's intended function and user needs. - - Hands-on electrical troubleshooting with tools such as an oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc. - - Strong familiarity with electrical schematic drafting standards and common practices. - AC and DC electrical design analysis using simulation or hand calculations. - - Benchtop prototyping of electrical designs. - - - Physical Demands: - Able to work Hybrid (on site preferred) - - - Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of time - - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the office and warehouse to execute work efficiently. - The person in this position frequently communicates with his team and other project teams to ensure smooth operation - - Divergent is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
