Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Tests and measures eye function to assist Ophthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease: Tests patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception to assist Ophthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease•Examines eye, using slit lamp, for abnormalities of cornea, and anterior and posterior chambers•Applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes•Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test)•Tests patient's field of vision, including central and peripheral vision•Performs other tests and measurements as requested by physician•Performs other duties as assigned•Patient Correspondence including but not limited to: Disability Forms, Patient Phone Calls•Completes Medical History, Lensometry, Auto Refracting, Pam Testing, Glare Testing•Performs all aspects of visual acuity testing and Visual Field Testing•Performs ophthalmic photographic and diagnostic services•Performs ophthalmic photography. Modifies equipment for each test. Takes images of patients using specialized equipment including but not limited to: Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT),OPTOS, fundus photos, documents in EMR. Notifies physician as needed.•Maintains and updates training as new modalities and are added.•Modifies equipment for each test•Responsible for obtaining pre-procedural consent forms and other related documentation•Assists with image storage related concerns, manages duplicates and escalates any concerns with image capture•Recognizes problems/malfunctions of photographic, diagnostic and related equipment•Performs preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with established procedures•Responsible for preparation of materials as requested for audio-visual presentations, publications, lectures and exhibitions•Disseminates information to colleagues and/or staff as appropriate•Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times•Responsible for maintaining a sterile environment•Ensures standard infection control precautions are observed•Coordinates flow of patients to maximize physician and room utilization and minimize patient waiting times•Performs related duties as required About VRMNY Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York (VRMNY) are internationally-renowned leaders in diagnosing and treating retinal diseases, who work together as a team to provide efficient and effective patient service. Qualifications: At least 2-3 years experience as an ophthalmic technician, required. Imaging a plus: Heidelberg OCT, OPTOS, Fundus photos. Experience and Medical Specialty: Ophthalmology: Required, Retina a plus Phlebotomy Certification a plus JCAHPO certification: COT, COA a plus Associate's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of MDI, a plus.
