Due to departmental growth the organization has an active need for a dedicated Quality Control Inspector to join their team. In a fast-paced environment the quality control inspector must be organized and finish tasks in a timely manner. The quality control inspector must work diligently to ensure that products are carefully inspected and detailed information is accurately recorded. Responsibilities: Inspect imported products on arrival and periodically, while in cold storage, ensure the quality of products. Produces inspection and quality control reports that accurately communicate the analysis to sales and management. Advises on the selection of products for customer shipments and the management of inventory turnover. Build and maintain secure relationships with buyers-bird dogs, warehouse employees, sales managers, shippers, and growers. Investigate and resolve quality related problems in a timely manner. Coordinates and participates in product selection and repacking operations. Monitors the quality control inspections for these operations. Experience/Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent At least 2 years’ experience in fresh produce inspection or related industry Willing to train an ambitious individual with the opportunity to advance. Produce quality inspection mentorship opportunities available with advancement opportunities. Skills & Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of basic food safety standards and issues. Produce Inspection Skills, knowledge of USDA grade standards, methods, and techniques. Must be organized and have problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Make appropriate decisions, work independently, and communicate clearly and effectively. Able to lift 40 lbs. Ability to speak Spanish a plus. Schedule: Based on workload: Start time as early as 6am / Finish time as late as 6pm Must be willing to be on-call and to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends. Note: Weekends (Saturdays) may be required during peak period (Dec-May). Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
