Opportunity Overview: We are seeking dedicated Student Life Counselors to join a prestigious college preparatory boarding school based in North Miami. These crucial roles involve serving as primary caregivers and mentors within the vibrant residential program, catering to students' academic and social achievements. Positions are available for both on-call and full-time staff, perfect for individuals who can work evening shifts and are committed to fostering a nurturing and productive environment. This opportunity includes work until the end of the current school year with the possibility of continuing into the next academic year following a summer break. Role Responsibilities: Student Mentorship: Build trusting and meaningful relationships with students, providing guidance, emotional support, and mentoring. Family Engagement: Enhance the connection between students and their families, fostering communication and involvement. Advocacy: Advocate for students' needs while upholding their dignity and rights. Health and Wellness: Address healthcare and mental health needs by referring students to appropriate services and supporting them through challenges. Academic Support: Maintain a structured learning environment, assist with homework, afterschool activities, and encourage college preparation. Safety and Recreation: Ensure a safe living environment, organize recreational activities, promote healthy lifestyle choices, and supervise students during meals and dorm assignments at night. Character Development: Foster character growth and social skills, teaching and modeling core values and life skills. Shift Details: Hours: 4 PM to 12 AM, Sunday through Thursday. Candidate Qualifications: Mission Alignment: Demonstrated commitment to the institution's mission, with a belief in every student's potential to succeed. Educational Background: Bachelors degree preferred in Education, Psychology, or a related field. Experience: Prior experience in educational settings, counseling, or youth programs is highly desirable. Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and group management skills.
