Summary The BCS Food Services Aide has a heart of service and excellence with opportunities to serve every facet of the Bethesda community. Each day this person will help in the execution of menus, serving and cleaning as well as ministering to the students and staff by meeting nutritional needs. Duties Assist in implementing the daily menu according to meal schedules for the preschool as well as helping with K-12 food preparations, and open to helping assist with food preparation and service for Bethesda Community Church special events. Use a positive attitude to stay on mission within the food service operation and assist where needed with cooking, serving and cleaning duties. Under the direction of the manager, help execute food service consistent with the program's philosophy, goals and mission. Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas throughout the building using the HACCP principles of food safety. Accept temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled staff is not available, i.e., taking full responsibility of a kitchen, cleaning project or food service project outside of daily duties. Develop a working knowledge of Texas Minimum Standards as they pertain to food service operations. Maintain a food handler permit that meets the regulations of the Tarrant County Health Department. Perform a variety of physical movements repeatedly in performing the essential job functions, i.e., standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, squating, bending and twisting, and lifting items up to 50 lbs. Maintain excellent personal appearance and hygiene. Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification for adults, children and infants. Correct unsafe conditions in work areas and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately. Properly maintain materials and equipment; ensure that co-staff are using equipment in an appropriate manner; keep the kitchen and other food service areas safe, neat, clean and well-maintained. Manage food service outside of school hours in a professional and safe manner in accordance with Tarrant County Health Department. Interact professionally and positively with staff, students, current and prospective families. Maintain confidentiality; promote teamwork with team members and Translate recipes easily and maintain any required paperwork/recordkeeping. Communicate effectively and promote teamwork with other team members and staff. Requirements At least 18 years of age. High School diploma or equivalency. Previous food service experience (preferred). Ability to read and write English. Evidence of Christian maturity and a strong grasp of the essence of Christian education and service. Ability to follow recipe directions with excellence. Able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress work Note: A food handler?s permit that is approved by Texas Department of State Health Services(DSHS) will be required before beginning the onboarding process. Nice To Haves -Previous experience in a school kitchen with knowledge of CACFP and serving sizes.-Have a heart for service and a love of learning.
