Learn more at Optical Tooling Tech 4 is an advanced position focused on the manufacture of inserts for optical component manufacturing to support product development and discovery. An understanding of design principles, G&M code and machining principles is required to develop innovative solutions that can translate novel insert designs into functioning lathe programs. Key Responsibilities : This position seeks collaboration and interaction with multiple engineering groups including lens design, tooling design, injection molding, and product development in the application of the design-build-test development process. Develops processes, equipment and workstreams to enable new product development regarding advanced optical designs, precision surface tolerances and enhanced optical component quality. Applies technical skills to understand, communicate and resolve technical challenges. Performs optical and dimensional measurements to interpret component quality attributes. This position is expected to be a lab owner and to train and develop junior technicians, and performs other related duties as assigned by management. As a lab owner other key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintaining the Tooling Development area in compliance with ISO/GMP standards, Safety and Quality initiatives including periodic inspections and observations. Meets quality and productivity goals established by management. Adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives; actively manages and maintains current chemical inventories, diamonds, blanks, PM schedules for lab equipment.
