The Laborer (Seasonal) works under the direction of the Streets Division Manager; installs and repairsCity curbs, gutters and sidewalks; performs street maintenance tasks.___________________________________________________________________________________________________ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES1.Operates a variety of hand tools and small equipment in performing street maintenance tasks1.1 Assist with the removal of existing concrete1.2 Assists with the construction of forms necessary for concrete pouring1.3 Assists with the placement of concrete for newly poured curbs, gutters and sidewalks1.4 Patches and repairs pot holes1.5 Assists with laying of asphalt and smoothing asphalt patches1.6 Repairs and replaces City street signs1.7 Cleans storm drains and gutters1.8 Paints crosswalks, stop bars and legends1.9 Performs other related duties as assigned___________________________________________________________________________________________________MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of related education andexperience.• Must possess a valid state driver's license, or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES1. Knowledge of general construction techniques.2. Skill in operation of various hand and power tools.3. Specific vision abilities required bythis job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
