Description:
Summary Objective This position performs under continuous supervision in assisting Recreation Leaders in the coordination, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of Recreation programs. This includes games, special events, and other recreational activities in a recreation area with all age groups. Duties and responsibilities may include: Preparing venue(s) to host activities and programs, both on-site and off-site. Ensures the safety of the venue and participants at all times. Maintains accurate and timely reports, and submits all reports to a supervisor. Ensures venues return to pre-program status at the conclusion of activities. Working knowledge of programs and activities for senior citizens. Ability to interact in a positive manner with elders. Ability to oversee a variety of group programs. Minimum Education and Experience High school diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) months of previous experience or training; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license. Florida Commercial Driver's License, including appropriate endorsement(s), is preferred. Individuals selected for a position must possess valid CPR/First Aid Certification prior to the date of hire and must maintain the certification thereafter. Possession of Florida State Department of Health Forty (40) hour Childcare Certification is preferred upon hire. Position incumbents not possessing the Forty-hour Childcare Certification must register and complete the Certification within 60 days of employment, obtain the Certification within two (2) months of the hire date, and maintain the Certification thereafter. This position requires the successful passing of a background check and drug screening .
