Safe Alliance - Children's Program Relief Staff The Children's Program Relief Staff at the Shelter supports the agency by providing hope and healing to those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault by providing trauma informed child care support to children and families residing in the shelter. Responsibilities/Accountabilities Client Care Using a trauma-informed, client-centered, two generational model: Interact, monitor, and assist child residents of the shelter on an individual and group basis within a structured childcare environment. Instruct children in a trauma informed manner and engage in activities that are designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Maintain a calm, respectful, and cooperative environment. Instruct and assist children with personal cleanliness, hygiene, and self-care. Assist with resident snacks; monitoring and documenting any food allergies. Act with families in mind and work to meet family needs and expectations to the extent possible. Provide information and referrals to agency and community resources as appropriate. Identify and refer families to shelter children's programming as appropriate; including initiatives around connecting primary medical care, support groups, and extracurricular activities. Provide developmental assessments as appropriate and make referrals to community programs. Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, parent support, and education; focusing on the needs of the entire family as needed. Maintain contact with parents and contact them in the case of an emergency. Administration Keep childcare spaces clean and functioning; cleaning interactive areas throughout the day. Work to ensure the goals and outcomes for the program are met. Understand and maintain appropriate group size and ratio; alerting leadership if additional staffing needs arise. Maintain accurate database information by entering required client information when needed; including child's progress, childcare attendance, interests, and any problems that may occur. Adhere to agency procedures concerning documentation, Critical Incident Reports and Client Satisfaction Surveys and Participate in the Quality Assurance Process. Verify and print timecard in a timely manner. Stewardship Support agency mission and stay up to date on agency policy and procedures by participating in at least 75% of scheduled Staff Meetings; attend additional agency meetings and committees as requested by supervisor. Have good interpersonal communication skills with a diverse group of people. Work at least two school holidays and at least twice per pay period in order to stay on the Childcare schedule. Promote and maintain professional relationships with agency staff, volunteers, and community partners. Professional Development Maintain and develop skills and knowledge by attending trainings and team meetings. Engage in ongoing work to ensure a vast understanding of child development, Domestic Violence, and the impacts of trauma on families. Be familiar with approved methods of positive redirection of all ages of children; ensuring training in received on agency approved strategies. Ensuring licensure and certifications are up to date needed for the job. Attend monthly supervision. Position Requirements Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, twist, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The worker is required to have the ability for close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, operate agency vehicle and ability to adjust focus to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection), to determine accuracy and thoroughness of work assignment. Position requires ability to climb, reach, balance, stoop, stand, kneel, crouch, walk, stand, finger, grasp, lift, pull, push, grasp, sit, twist, talk, hear, and perform repeated motions. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system and exposed to infectious diseases. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work hours vary and include evening and weekend work. Employee must have access to transportation that allows them to meet all job requirements in a timely fashion. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Safe Alliance may still be subject to government mandated vaccine requirements and testing as outlined by the OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard. All applicants must be willing to submit proof of vaccination status or test weekly. High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred. 1 year experience working with children in a child care setting. CPR Certification (Agency will provide if needed). Valid Driver's License, automobile insurance. Knowledgeable of child development, work with families, and good communication Experience working with survivors preferred. Experience in child development or human services field preferred. 2 years working within a child care center preferred. Spanish speaking preferred-if hired as a Spanish speaking staff member, candidate must be fluent in understanding, speaking, and writing in Spanish. No calls, emails, or visits please .
