Work Location: Hybrid/Washington, DC. We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented cybersecurity professional to support our Department of State client. The candidate will support development of zero trust implementation strategy. Duties and responsibilities include: Provide expert guidance in developing a robust security architecture for software products, applications, and supporting infrastructure, emphasizing Zero Trust principles alongside industry best practices and US government standards. Lead technical discussions and collaborate with development teams and government stakeholders to establish Zero Trust-informed, security-focused software design standards and maturity models. Design and implement secure coding practices, API security, application-level segmentation, and other Zero Trust components into software products, ensuring alignment with government requirements. Conduct in-depth evaluations of the software development lifecycle and identify areas of optimization from a Zero Trust and overall security perspective, prioritizing US government compliance. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to development teams, driving the adoption of secure development practices with an understanding of Zero Trust concepts and their implementation within government contexts. Required Qualifications: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, or a closely related field OR equivalent experience demonstrating deep technical expertise in software development and cybersecurity. (Master's degree strongly preferred) Must be an effective communicator (oral and written), with strong technical writing and presentation skills. Have the ability to work professionally and collaboratively with software development teams, vendors, governments stakeholders, and diverse groups across all organizational levels. Have well-developed project management and team collaboration skills. Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on engineering experience with a proven track record in implementing security solutions, including Zero Trust principles, within complex software development environments. Ideally, this experience includes work with or for US government entities. Strong understanding of Zero Trust principles, frameworks, and their application to software design, development, and deployment, including familiarity with industry best practices and US government security standards. Expertise in secure coding practices, SecDevOps principles, and integrating Zero Trust into the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Experience with API security, application-level segmentation, and secure containerization technologies. Ability to analyze, evaluate, and optimize software applications and supporting infrastructure for Zero Trust compliance, overall security effectiveness, and alignment with US government requirements. Desired Qualifications: Relevant cybersecurity or Zero Trust engineering certifications. Experience with cloud-based Zero Trust implementations in software development contexts, specifically those relevant to US government projects. Proficiency in multiple programming languages and familiarity with common development frameworks. Experience with vulnerability scanning and code analysis tools.
