Serendipity Center is a therapeutic day school that combines Mental Health, Special Education, Wellness, and Transition Readiness supports for students who need extra time, attention, and skills practice to be successful. Serendipity is seeking to fill a(n) Vice Principal position. Our Vice Principal plays the critical role of directing and coordinating educational and administrative activities of the school. Interested candidates must have the desire and ability to work in a collaborative team model, with a primary goal of establishing and refining the protocols that will best support the child's learning and progress. Candidates must be able to assist children with academic learning and deliver appropriate social/emotional behavioral support. Physical Management (CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention) is required at times to maintain safety. CPI training is provided. What makes us different? Being a private non-profit, all the support and resources are right here on campus, in addition to having small class sizes, Teachers are provided with an in- classroom Program Assistant, and 1-2 additional Instructional Assistants minimum. Outside of the classroom a team of Behavioral Interventionists, Clinical Case Managers, SLP's, SPED Coordinators, MTSS Supervisors, an Art Therapist, Transition Coordinator, Therapeutic Adaptive Recreation Teacher, and a Therapeutic Garden Educator all add to our rich program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Leads School Discipline, making discipline decisions, contacting families, scheduling re-entry meetings, and follows up on behavior support plan revisions. Tracks and responds to disproportionate discipline. Leads Intensive Student Support Team including the reduction in student aggression and use of derogatory language. Coordinates the collection of the data for data-based decision making. With the support of the Education Director, administers the incident report system of Review360 and MTSS in Synergy. Leads the implementation of best practices for individual behavior management including Collaborative Problem Solving, Behavior Assessments, Behavior Support Planning, and Check In Check Out. In conjunction with the Program Secretary, coordinates with district transportation including letters to transportation and communicating with transportation representatives concerning bus referrals. Supervises the Intervention Team. Meets at minimum monthly for individual supervision. Provides ongoing group supervision. Works with HR to ensure all supervises are meeting expectations. Leads inquiries into student & staff behavior in conjunction with program managers, supervisors, and HR. Documents actions/corrective actions. Coordinates the implementation of best practices and onboards updates from the legislature in student safety including CPI and threat assessments and the documentation of those practices. Coordinates intervention in leading CPI including contacting families and districts about restraint, seclusion, and debrief documentation and ensures Serendipity maintains sufficient trainers in CPI. With other program managers, coordinates staff coverage by supporting each other with parent contact for incident reports, and supporting PA's in leading classrooms when a teacher is absent. Maintains regular, punctual, and predictable attendance. Works collaboratively in a team environment, in the spirit of cooperation. Displays excellent communication skills, including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills in working with all members of Serendipity's community, and effectively communicate under all circumstances, remaining calm and composed. Respectfully takes direction from supervisor. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors the safety and security of the facilities. May perform crisis intervention and CPI approved physical management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position supervises the intervention team directly, and provides direction to a variety of program positions as a member of the management team through directing activities of the program. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Two years of directly related or relevant leadership experience and/or training with increasing levels of responsibility preferred. Certification/Licenses: Current Oregon Principal's License. Current CPI certification (can be obtained on the job). General Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from staff and parents/guardians, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: General MS Windows and word-processing skills Physical Demands: Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Ability to see clearly and effectively to maintain safety, Ability to perform CPI. WORK ENVIRONMENT General office conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to assault by a student. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually average-moderate, but sometimes may be moderate and occasionally loud.
