Center Veterinary Clinic is seeking a motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Center Veterinary Clinic is an AAHA Accredited General Practice and Urgent Care clinic located in the Mira Mesa neighborhood of San Diego, CA. We are looking for a candidate who is eager to work weekends and is dedicated to expanding their skills in the veterinary field. Position Overview: The Veterinary Assistant supports the hospital by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and extraordinary service to our patients and clients. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will fully assist the DVMs and RVTs to help improve the quality of care to the patients by relieving them of technical work and achieving greater efficiency at Center Veterinary Clinic. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in determining animal requirements by helping conduct animal examinations, restraining patients, and reviewing care plans and records Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering vaccines, providing wound care management, completing laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging Assembling required supplies and instruments for procedures Fill prescriptions and administer PO, SQ, IM, IV medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs Maintain a safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by following documented standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; updates database in an accurate and timely manner Ability to demonstrate and follow procedures in catheter placement and phlebotomy Qualifications and Skills: Entry-level position, willing to train a motivated and passionate candidate High School Diploma/GED Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathize and connect with clients Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors Available Schedule: Full-time position, must be open to weekend shifts We are open: Mondays - Thursdays 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM Fridays & Saturdays 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM Sundays 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM Benefits We Offer: Competitive compensation commensurate with experience ($18.00 - $23.00 per hour) Health, dental, and vision insurance 401k + company match Paid time off Continuing education opportunities Professional development support Mental health assistance Employee discounts on veterinary services Scrub allowance Employee Referral Program Cohesive and energetic work environment!
