New Jersey American Water has a Full:Time opening for a Utility Mechanic If you posess OR have the ability to obtain a CDL Class A within 120 days of hire, then this role is for YOU Primary Role Performs any responsibility that lies within the capability of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training. Knowledge/Skills:Must possess geographical knowledge of the companys service area and distribution system, as well as an understanding of gradients, piping networks, basic fluid and flow principles, and basic electrical theory and related safety procedures.:Able to interpret diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and maps. Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and safety practices, as well as state and federal regulations regarding confined spaces, trenching and shoring, and Competent Person.:Knowledge of various materials utilized in the transmission and distribution system and an ability to properly and safely make necessary taps, restraints, and repairs to ensure the integrity of the transmission, distribution, and collection system.:Working knowledge and understanding of contracts covering the installation of water mains, valves, fittings, fire hydrants, and services to ensure that facilities are installed in accord with the contract. Certifications and Licensures:Active state drivers license required with the ability to pass a motor vehicle report.:CLASS A Commercial Drivers License(Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements) OR the ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.
