Job Summary: As a Utilities Operator, you'll be the backbone of our city's water and wastewater systems. You'll ensure that our community has access to clean, safe water and that our wastewater is treated efficiently. Your work will help keep our city running smoothly and our environment healthy. What You'll Do: Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection systems. Monitor control panels, adjust valves and gates, and ensure optimal system operations. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, vehicles, and facilities. Conduct field tests and sampling for regulatory compliance and process optimization. Respond to service calls, including meter swaps, leak detection, and sanitary system investigations. Work with contractors during system improvements and repairs. Maintain accurate records and documentation of operational activities. Ensure safety standards are met in all operations. What You Bring to the Team: High school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of practical hands-on experience in water and/or wastewater operations. A valid Texas Driver's License. For Utilities Operator I: TCEQ Current Class "D" Operator Certification in Groundwater or Wastewater, with the ability to acquire the other certification within 6 months. For Utilities Operator II: TCEQ Current Class "C" Operator Certification in Groundwater and Wastewater. Strong problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job and work in various weather conditions. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Physical Demands: Regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
