The successful candidate will collaborate with paralegals and the Managing Partner to provide comprehensive legal representation to clients on immigration matters. This role involves handling cases before U.S. immigration courts, USCIS, and other government agencies, as well as providing expert legal guidance and representation throughout the immigration process. Duties and Responsibilities:Provide legal representation to individuals on immigration matters, including representation before government agencies such as U.S. immigration courts and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)Conduct thorough consultations with clients as neededConduct preparation sessions with clients for interviews before USCIS, U.S. immigration courts, and U.S. state courtsAnalyze the probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents, and interpret laws, rulings, agency guidance, and regulations to determine appropriate legal strategyDocket all case deadlines when necessaryManage large caseloads and independently manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentReview, draft, and monitor petitionsOversee timely preparation of cases assigned and keep track of all deadlines under the attorney's supervisionProvide guidance to paralegals on assigned cases, including monitoring case progress, monitoring emails to clients, and setting case strategiesReview the work of paralegals in recordkeeping and document preparationPrepare legal cover letters, memorandums, briefs, and opinionsPrepare and file appeals before administrative and federal courtsKeep clients informed of case progress through telephonic, electronic, and written communicationPrepare appeals, motions, and petitions before the federal district courts and federal circuit courts; represent clients before the Immigration Court, USCIS, and other agenciesDevelop and litigate cases, including legal research and developing case strategyInterview, certify eligibility, and identify the legal problems of clients within a specific area of law; provide clients with appropriate legal assistance in the form of advice, referrals, or actual representationParticipate in outreach and case acceptance meetingsRepresent clients in court and before administrative agencies, including investigation, witness preparation, pre- and post-hearing written arguments, conduct of the hearing, and related activitiesProvide documentation, statistical information, and other records as required by the Managing Attorney and Legal Project ManagerParticipate in training to maintain Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements as may be provided by the program Requirements:JD degree from an accredited law schoolActive Michigan Bar license (in good standing)Minimum of 2+ years of experience as an Immigration AttorneyExperience with USCIS and removal casesAbility to attend USCIS interviews and travel as required Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skillsUnderstanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related mattersExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailEffective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to function well in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environmentAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgmentProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, or related software Certifications:Active Michigan Bar license (in good standing) Experience:Minimum of 2+ years of experience as an Immigration Attorney Specializing exclusively on immigration law, this firm is well-known for significant results among clients and peers in the legal community.
