Patient Population (Diagnoses): Primarily post op cardiac surgery patients (CABG/Valve/ VAD/Transplant (heart and lungs)/aneurysms/TAVRs. Accept preop patients and readmit Age Range: 20 years and up Special Equipment: (For example: IV Pumps: Type; Invasive Monitoring; Monitors: Type; ECMO; Ventilators: Type; ABG: Type)All patients are on a tele box RNs are responsible for monitoring own tele no central tele monitor. Have monitors throughout the unit to view and 3 central monitor locations. Telemetry alarms go directly to RN phone. Alaris IV pumps, (no vents), Medtronic external pacemakers. Vital signs machine, glucometer, SCDs, bladder scanner, wound vacs, IV pumps, pulse oximeters, chest tubes, tube feeding pumps (Kangaroo), and oxygen delivery devices including CPAP and Bi PAP. RNs are responsible for nebulizer treatment administration. Respiratory available 24/7 for support ? Y ? N Anesthesia available 24/7 for support ? Y ? N Who manages ventilators: no vents on unit Unit Specific Procedures and Protocols: (For example: Drips; Infusions; Phlebotomy; Starting IVs; EKGs; Transports; Weaning; Nebulizer to Inhaler; Starting IVs, performing venipuncture, Performing EKGs; Discontinuing sheaths) RNs are responsible for own nebulizer tx. Have phlebotomy service but encourage own IV starts and blood draws. Responsible for own 12 lead EKGs (PCTs will assist). Drips include but are not limited to Cardizem, NTG, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Argatroban, Milrinone Heparin, Amiodarone. Additional Unit Specific Information: Very team-oriented staff. Work to keep charge out to the numbers to assist all staff. Comment: Facility is no longer accepting candidates within a 50-mile radius. Do NOT submit candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the hospital. ALL RTO requests must be in the packet at the time of submission. Anything sent after, will not be approved Position Description: Cardiac Surgical Stepdown - IMCU/ Stepdown RN with Tele, Cardiology, or cardiac surgery experience highly preferred. Shift is 12 H Rotating. Every other weekend, every other holiday required, No on-call. IMC surgical nursing- cardiology or cardiac surgery experience preferred. Epic EMR. Required Upon Submission: 2+ years of experience required, prior travel preferred. Certifications Required: BLS required, AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Submission Packet must show # of beds, Trauma Level and EMR on their Work History or they will be dropped. MD/compact license is required for all submissions to be active, visible through nursys. COVID vaccine required. ONLY Medical Declination accepted, Must have signed and authorized documentation from Physician in packet or submission will be dropped. UMMS does not accept Religious Declinations. Flu Season has ended at UMMS and vaccines are no longer required. IVS to Interview and Manager to Offer.
