Position Description:The engineer will be responsible for assignments requiring application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for the nonmetallic Thermal Protection System (TPS) materials, paints, primers, and coatings under the guidance of senior engineers. Duties will include work instruction development, planning control, data collection and analysis, and other tasks as assigned. The engineer will be required to communicate (verbal and written) with engineers, technicians, management, and NASA customers to convey relevant information in a timely manner. The engineer is required to provide daily support to the Non-Metallic Materials Branch at MSFC. Qualifications:A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineeringis required. A degree from an ABET accredited University is preferred. Experience with product/process planning and support for development and testing of materials. This position is for a candidate with a willingness to learn and adapt to the changing environments of technology development.Required Skills: Ability to develop technical instructions Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work in a diverse team environment and willingness to learn from others of all levels and positions. Experience with parts fabrication/manufacturing methods, specification compliance, and safety protocols/equipment is desired. Experience with aerospace materials is a plus.
