Tank Farm Attendant- Facility Maintenance

Tank Farm Attendant Responsibilities: 1. Unload solvent tanker trucks per Work Instruction (WI). 2. Unload solvent & propellant rail cars per WI. 3. Verify material receipts for railcars and tank trucks – report inconsistencies to inventory clerk. 4. Assist propellant tanker truck driver in unloading propellant into propellant tanks per Work Instruction. 5. Hook up & use pumps, filters and hoses for chemical & waste transfer on a daily basis. 6. Collect chemical & propellant samples and bring to lab for incoming inspection/testing. 7. Record data from scales, meters and gauges in the tank farm area & send out inventory report on daily basis. 8. Report any tank level gage or any other problems with pumps or tanks to facility maintenance department. 9. Prepare tank farm for long weekend shut down/Startup tank from long weekend shutdown 10. Keep solvent tanks full at all times to ensure compounding department can carry out their operations without interruption. 11. Work with facility maintenance mechanics in maintaining tank farm equipment, pumps, storage tanks & piping in good operating condition. 12. Complete all necessary paperwork as established for the work being performed. 13. Participate in other duties as may be assigned by the department supervisor or manager. Qualification Standards: 1. High school diploma or higher level of education. 2. Able to effectively communicate with fellow personnel verbally & in writing through e-mails etc. 3. Complete training on all relevant SOPs & WIs within 90 days of taking on the position. 4. Ability to read, write and understand English and have basic arithmetic skills (proficiency test required) with ability to do unit conversion. 5. Prior industrial experience in tank farm operations is desirable. 6. Ability to read & interpret SDS. Other Requirements: 1. Use all required PPE at all times. 2. Complete OSHA Haz Com Training. 3. Complete RCRA hazardous waste handling, SPCC & SWPPP training. 4. Complete GMP training and follow applicable SOP’s. 5. Maintain good housekeeping in the tank farm area at all times. 6. Protect all storm drains in the tank farm from chemical contaminants. 7. Observe all safety requirements & report any unsafe conditions to facility maintenance and/or the safety manager or head of engineering as needed. 8. Act as a guide for Local Emergency Planning Committee in case of non incidental emergency spills in tank farm & compounding area 9. Operate forklift truck as a certified driver. 10. Operate tank farm emergency shutdown system as needed 11. Respond to and clean up incidental spills in accordance with Local, State and Federal regulations. 12. Know how to use small hand tools. Physical Requirements: 1. Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and roll up to 440 lbs using pallet truck & other equipment 2. Ability to stand outside for prolonged periods of time. 3. Ability to work in an Industrial Environment.
