OUR MISSION : Empower Discovery. Enable Innovation. Improve Life. Mirus Bio is seeking a full-time onsite Synthetic Chemist to join the Production Chemistry Team. The role involves hands-on synthesis and analysis of compounds, process streamlining, and work instruction updates. The position reports to the Production Manager and Tech Transfer Leader and collaborates closely with Quality, Technical Support, Shipping, and R&D departments. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Synthetic Chemistry on the Production Chemistry Team providing technical know-how and executing critical production and lab activities such as the synthesis of high-quality lipids, polymers, and small molecules for Mirus Bio products. Extensive characterization of compounds using various physical and chemical techniques, such as gel permeation chromatography (GPC), dynamic light scattering (DLS), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and others. Thought leadership to identify improvement opportunities and minimize errors, while balancing multiple projects with changing priorities and overlapping deadlines. Inventory management and ordering of production materials to support the production schedule. Understanding of QMS documentation, including writing SOPs and updating existing documents via change controls preferred. Technical review of external batch records, writing deviations and change controls as required, and lead production chemistry root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. Communication across multiple teams to ensure alignment and eliminate barriers, while following GDP and cGMP guidelines and ensuring quality compliance. Demonstrate behavior outlined within the Mirus Bio Employee Handbook. Perform other duties as assigned by Production Manager and Tech Transfer Leader. REQUIREMENTS Education : Requires a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Chemistry, or other related discipline, or commensurate work experience. Professional: 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience, with the capability to work in an organized manner, make critical observations, and maintain good records of results. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to identify and solve problems and work productively in a team environment. Hands-on experience with a variety of analytical techniques, including NMR, GPC/SEC, fluorescence, FT-IR, MS, UV-vis, HPLC, etc. Previous experience working for a life sciences company and in a cGMP, environment is preferred. Travel Requirements: Ability to travel independently 5% of the time, including overnight travel. Ability to drive a vehicle; Must have current and valid U.S. driver license. This position has a salary range of $75,000 - $95,000 per year and will be commensurate with experience.
