Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Job Summary: Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours, Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm Job Summary: We’re hiring a flexible, detail and deadline-oriented Staff Accountant. In this role, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of General Accounting functions including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Grant Management as well as backing up our Accounts Payable and Payroll process.Specifically, you’ll prepare and post monthly general journal entries, enter monthly payroll labor distribution report into the Fund Accounting system. In addition, you can expect to post monthly cash receipts, cash disbursement per bank account activities and monthly third-party accounts receivable reports. Your work will also include assisting in year-end closing and coordinate annual accounting audit and any other audits. You’ll also assist in the coordination and development of the annual BHCHP budget, submission of mandated tax filings to city, state and federal government as well as preparation of cost reporting to various agencies.Other duties may include: Maintain capital assets and depreciation schedule. Maintain prepaid insurance and prepaid service contract schedule. Oversee the spending of grants and contracts to ensure funding is spending appropriately within the funding periods. Track and post book sales activities. Prepare quarterly and yearly grant reports required by funding agencies. Qualifications: To succeed in this role, you’ll bring the following to the table: College or Associate Degree with accounting major preferred. Strong computer skills including working knowledge of P.C. spreadsheet software (Excel) and familiarity with payroll, accounts payable and general accounting system a plus. Ability to handle multiple, complex tasks and priorities and to adhere to deadlines. Effective English communication skills (verbal and written). Benefits: The annual compensation starts at $60,000 and increases with years of experience BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of 4 weeks’ vacation , health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount. In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases, additional annual compensation of $7,500 for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and the opportunity to work with local hospitals and community health centers.
