Job Description: The Sr Specialist, Data Privacy serves as a Subject Matter Expert in data, with an emphasis on Data Privacy and implementing comprehensive data privacy policies, standards, and rules to enable trust and compliance within the evolving North American privacy law landscape. This role is part of one of several data teams within Mazda's federated Data Intelligence program partnering with the business and IT for continued compliance of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), through its lifecycle.This role is responsible for the creation, optimization, and execution of the operational components of Data Privacy (e.g., auditing, risk profiles, assessments, program compliance, events, DPIA, ROPA, DSAR, Mapping, laws, scorecards and education for our North American customers, employees, and partners) along with conveying the value to Mazda for our customers, employees, and partners PII. Other major responsibilities include deploying innovative and cost-effective solutions and frameworks to scale and manage privacy risk, providing cross functional privacy guidance on the usage of personal information, and supporting privacy by design in contracts, intake, change, projects, consulting, and retention. Lastly, the Sr Specialist ensures privacy knowledge in a dynamically evolving Data Privacy Law and technology environment. Data Privacy Operations - 40% Responsible for operational capabilities, standard operating procedures, and logging to comply with North American data privacy laws. Responsible for a federated Data Privacy model with people, processes, and tools for simple engagement, value, and compliance. Configure Data Privacy tools for optimal usage, value, and cost. Continuously monitor privacy processes, systems, and solution health. Partner with the Business, IT, and Data teams to support and implement privacy practices from the start, 'Privacy by Design', to benefit the customer's data, through new projects, contract management, change management, and efficient frameworks throughout PII's lifecycle. Responsible for intake and Contract Management processes requiring Data Privacy guidance to minimize MNAO's risk profile and initial consulting. Responsible for PII design and set up for privacy operations. Work with customers and cross-functional teams to optimize initiatives that require PII. Work with PII Data Owners and IT to automate retention expiration actions and data minimization. Collaborate with DATA Intelligence and IT teams to ensure privacy management is built into the North American data foundation. Data Privacy Compliance - 20% Maintain knowledge of evolving data protection laws and regulations to ensure MNAO's compliance and proper planning for those requirements. Partner with Legal department to ensure North American legal compliance. Create and maintain policies, controls, standards, and rules around the handling of Personal Information. Partner with Enterprise Data Security and other to ensure alignment, proper safeguards and frameworks are in place for PII. Identify and address risk areas with PII Data Owners across departments and functions to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and guidance. Responsible for the Data Privacy Training Education and Awareness (TEA) program and operational processes/execution. Serve as an SME to the DATA teams to elevate capability and maturity. Audit & Risk Assessment - 20% Responsible for Data Privacy audit completion, actions, and management of standard operating procedures. Identify and evaluate risk assessment findings to develop recommendations. Routinely communicate Data Privacy recommendations to senior management, council members and relevant stakeholders. Maintain Data Privacy communications, dashboards, KPIs, reporting, backlogs, issues, and problem visibility. Responsible for the Data Privacy systems and process "health and wellbeing" auditing, mitigation, and uptime. Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather information and insights for risk assessments. Privacy Catalog, DPIA & ROPA - 20% Configure PII systems, artifacts, and processes to support and scale Privacy information, (context + data). Responsible for PII use mapping for compliance and program operation. Responsible for the management of Data Privacy Impact Assessments, (DPIA) and Record of Processing Activities, (ROPA). Partner with DATA Governance systems and processes where joint management is required. Responsible for quality dimensions within Data Privacy's domain of data. Qualifications and Other Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in business, disciplines including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), or Economics, Statistics, Law, Government, a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience required. Master's degree in quantitative discipline (i.e., Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operations Research) preferred. Minimum five (5) years of experience in North American Data Privacy. To Include a minimum of: Five (5) years of experience configuring, deploying, and working in data privacy solutions. Three (3) years of experience leading data projects with demonstrated success driving enterprise-wide value. Two (2) years of experience leading cultural change in Data Privacy. Two (2) years of experience in multiple areas; Data Operations, Data Governance, Analytics Governance, Data Quality, Master Data Management, Data Warehouse/Lake, Data Management, Data platform/Architecture practices. Proven track record in the following: Growing Data Privacy maturity. Contract assessments and guidance for Data Privacy Risk. Working with senior stakeholders and non-technical business leaders. Ability to produce timely deliverables and manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment. Training/Certification: *Recognized data certification, e.g., IAPP, CDMP, IQCP, CIMP, ISO 8000, NIST preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Advanced knowledge in Data Privacy Laws across North America. Strong knowledge in managing contract language to minimize privacy risk. Expert knowledge in Data Privacy Tools and deployment. Intermediate knowledge of Scrum/Agile tools, Power BI, and SharePoint. Knowledge of Enterprise Security solutions. Knowledge of Incident Management and Change Management Systems. Knowledge of Workflow tools. Knowledge of IT, particularly in application development and its relevance to business use. Ability to communicate IT, business, financial and legal concepts across all parties. Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, DevOps, and Outlook, as well as the ability to learn and effectively utilize other software applications used within the Company. Well-balanced interpersonal skills; Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, employees, customers, and outside vendors; Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate both orally and in writing, using good grammatical form, both in general correspondence, as well as on technical issues. Strong presentation skills. Must be analytical and a problem solver with the ability to identify problems and/or cause-effect relationships; identify key issues; secure relevant information from all appropriate sources; identify possible root causes of problems and develop and implement corrective actions for resolution. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential. Must be able to establish a course of action for self and others/department to accomplish specific goals; must plan and prioritize appropriate allocation of resources. Self-driven with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and/or direction.
