Preference will be given to candidates that have proven experience with multiple imaging modalities, such as ultrasound, IVIS, micro CT/PET-CT or MRI. Summary of the group We are looking for a Senior Scientist with experience in rodent imaging techniques to join our in vivo pharmacology team in Gaithersburg. Respiratory and Immunology is one of AstraZeneca's key therapeutic areas and our aim is to transform the lives of patients with chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases including atopic dermatitis, arthritis and lupus (SLE), as well as lung conditions such as asthma and COPD. Main Duties & Responsibilities We expect you to be a strong in vivo scientist with experience in inflammation biology and the application of in vivo imaging techniques to visualize and quantify the therapeutic impact of novel treatments. You will have outstanding drive for innovation and idea generation and a proven ability to work across multiple projects with diverse global teams. This role will support in vivo teams through all phases of the pipeline from early target validation to ongoing drug projects. Education & Experience Requirements: Drive science and develop valuable imaging solutions for inflammatory diseases. Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and ethical compliance as well as data integrity. Technical development of imaging capabilities, delivery of imaging studies locally, and deep engagement with global teams to ensure department wide alignment and quality of data Contribute to the evaluation and interpretation of primary data as well as writing reports and summaries Supporting drug discovery projects to meet their objectives by acting as an effective and creative team member Required Skills PhD +3 years direct experience or MS with 5 years direct experience complemented with an extensive proven track record of in vivo work using imaging techniques in mice Experience with range of relevant imaging techniques and familiarity with emerging developments in the field Practical In vivo experience and experimental skills in the use of animal models Good understanding of pharmacology, physiology and immunology Analytical skills related to in vivo research and data analysis Good written and oral communication skills in English As highly motivated, independent scientist - be able to work effectively as part of a team and develop ideas by incorporating the views of others Able to communicate effectively across language, cultural, or other barriers Understanding of statistical methods, quality control including data reporting and archiving Desired Skills Inflammatory disease knowledge, including target and mechanism knowledge Why AstraZeneca?
