JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for managing the production supervisor team and Packroom to achieve production goals. This includes planning, organizing, and controlling production to ensure that products are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, while maintaining quality and safety standards. Will bring an overall understanding of how Production intersects with key departments (customer service, human resources, payroll, and engineering). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conducts daily meetings. Works with human resources on performance management and employee relations. Weekly review and approval of payroll, including review and management of time off and absences. Creates and maintains Production supervisor schedules. Monitors production through the production supervisor team. Prepares and communicates production reports in meetings and to the Director of Operations. Manages the production supervisor team. Monitors quality. Analyzes production and quality to detect and correct issues. Reviews and adjusts staffing schedule as needed. Acts as backup to the production supervisor as required. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on using all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Works with Safety vendors to ensure adherence to the company's safety program. Partner with customer service to respond to customer needs. Orders and maintains plant supplies. Participates actively in Lean events and champions Lean improvements. Ensures production supervisors follow through on Lean initiatives. Interacted with union representatives (including stewards) on employee issues and maintained a solid working relationship by following the collective bargaining agreement terms. COMPETENCIES Knowledge of production processes and techniques Strong knowledge of laundry systems preferred (i.e. Linen Master, e-tech, Milnor, etc...) Business acumen to strategize for the future Aptitude in learning systems Knowledgeable in plant safety Strong communication skills Critical evaluation Ethical practice Cultural awareness Leadership Relationship management Organizational skills Conflict management SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Directly manages the production lead team and is responsible for selection, training, performance review, coaching, disciplinary action, and termination of employment. WORK ENVIRONMENT Fast-paced production environment with limited climate control. Multi-union environment with diverse workforce and multiple languages. Seven days per week operation, including holidays . PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk most of the day and also required to: sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma Five years of experience in a production environment 3+ years of experience managing or supervising others Understanding or experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles Experience in a unionized environment Mechanical aptitude Basic Technology (Computer Software: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc...) Read/Write/Speak English
