The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for activities related to the organization's books, records and financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including non-profit accounting. The Senior Staff Accountant ensures that journal entries are accurate and made within deadlines to support timely and accurate financial reporting. This position processes intermediate to complex monthly reconciliations, cash management updates and assists the Senior Accountant with the financial statements, accounting system administration and budget/forecast coordination. Additionally, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for identifying process improvements along with assisting in the implementation of effective changes to streamline processes. This role is also backup for other positions on the team, including Accountant III and Senior Accountant. Why Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity? Qualifications to be a Senior Staff Accountant Education, credentials, and experience: Strong knowledge of Accounting Theory, especially the Balance Sheet. Strong understanding of how financial statements tie together. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: Attention to Detail: Ensures information is complete and accurate and follows up to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled. Teamwork: Works with and helps others to accomplish objectives. Time Management: Uses their time effectively and efficiently. Technical Software Expertise: Demonstrates proficiency with Accounting software systems. Communication: Delivers clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding others. Customer Service: Provides superior customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
