Summary: The Senior Manager of Product Design Gear will possess and apply broad knowledge of industrial design to create, develop, and communicate innovative product design concepts for the Titleist Gear and Club Glove franchise. Conducts design programs employing various art, design, graphic and engineering skills to create product opportunities necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches to product needs. Consults with management and development teams to evaluate difficult projects in an organized manner to align with critical path schedule requirements. Works with appreciable latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions. Helps to drive the design DNA for Titleist Gear and Club Glove. Responsibilities: Manages industrial design team and creates, develops, and refines product design concepts for difficult product opportunities. Coordinates with management to define features and benefits focused on form and function. Consults with management and product teams to evaluate projects in an organized manner to align with critical path schedule requirements and our product creation calendar, hitting our critical milestones. Works closely with bag, travel gear, headwear, and glove product teams to develop new golf and travel gear concepts. Conduct and participate in product development meetings, design critiques, vendor meetings, first article inspections and cosmetic/design approval process as necessary. Maintains broad knowledge of design concepts. Pursues design and utility patents in previously unexplored areas by submitting invention records and actively supporting I.P. efforts. Maintains broad knowledge of design techniques, including computer graphics/design/CAD generation, sketches, hand work, rapid prototyping, machined/finished prototyping, and visual communication/presentation tools. Works to create innovative solutions, process and material usages that can be sampled, validated, and commercialized on a continual basis. Applying broad knowledge of computer-based program, generates necessary documentation and images to facilitate communication and support to Product Development Engineering, Suppliers, Manufacturing, and Marketing. Possess and apply broad knowledge of materials and construction techniques typically used to manufacture golf/travel bags and their components. Conduct inspiration research of outside industries for new product design concept. Maintain and develop knowledge and expertise of new methods to further enhance departmental design and development capabilities. Possess and apply a broad understanding of golf/travel industry and Industrial Design industry trends. Maintain broad knowledge golf gear forms, shapes, construction, features, artwork, graphics, aesthetics, branding, materials, cosmetics, and product presentation techniques. Mentor less experienced designers in studio. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in design or related field. Minimum 8 years design or related experience; 2 years' experience leading others. Desired skills to include: Broad knowledge of computer-based concept/design/graphic packages (Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D desirable but not required), 2D and 3D Product prototyping ability, (sketching, model making, painting, and hand working), Excellent communication and presentation skills, Project Management skills and experience, Office computer software (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, etc.). Possess and apply broad knowledge of Golf industry and Travel Gear design desirable, product design, developmental processes, materials, construction, engineering design techniques, and market trends.
