About the Role: The Institutional Giving Senior Manager will report directly to the CAIR-LA Director of Development. The ideal candidate should have a strong record of accomplishment and demonstrable success raising funds from institutional funders and establishing a well-organized grants management program. The Senior Manager of Institutional Giving should be a strong and compelling writer who possesses excellent organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail and sophisticated project management skills, including follow-up and managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. The Manager of Institutional Giving is primarily responsible for a wide variety of duties including: RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee and lead the development of all funding proposals and reports - including concept development, letters of inquiry, project planning, and writing to a final copy. Develop templates for general operating support proposals, stewardship reports, and case statements, which serve as the basis for all grant proposals and communication materials, and which include history, program descriptions (including projected outcomes), annual goals, funding priorities and objectives. Strategically contribute to donor cultivation and stewardship efforts in collaboration with the Development Director, including drafting compelling stories and updates. Work with finance to oversee the preparation of grant budgets and corresponding financial reports. Oversee the execution of grant awards and track all grant deliverables. Distribute funding notifications and monitor the allocation of restricted funds. Collaborate with Finance and auditors to ensure grant practices comply with audit requirements. Communicate all reporting requirements to appropriate staff and monitor progress to ensure goals are met before submitting the final reports. Ensure appropriate acknowledgement of all grant awards. Refine and manage all grant-making processes, including grant policies, systems, and documentation, incorporates best practices, and ensures excellent controls. Develop and manage precise records, including grant calendar and all paper and electronic files. Perform research, identify, and strategically engage new funding prospects. Works with the Board to identify and solicit prospective institutional funders. Establish strong relationships with points of contact in funding institutions, through engagement and stewardship activities. Serve as liaison to funders, including answering inquiries, organizing funder events, and managing site visits as appropriate. Organize and facilitate planning meetings to gather concepts and data for grant proposals and reports. Supervise the Special Projects team to ensure coverage of all administrative functions including accurate and timely acknowledgements, grants tracking systems, and precise maintenance of donor files (hard copy and electronic). Perform other duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement. 5-7 years of experience as a grant writer and fundraising professional, preferably working in the advocacy/civil rights terrain. 3-5 years managing a team of grant writers with experience in receiving private and statewide funding Bachelor's degree required Certificate or course certifications in grant writing/management preferred Familiarity with the institutional funder landscape. Ability to synthesize data and information into one compelling voice and story. Strong project management skills. Demonstrated capacity to frame complex situations in a compelling way, that various audiences can relate to. Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise and mentor a diverse team. Experience managing a team in the nonprofit, government, legal, or related field. Knowledge of civil rights issues, particularly those affecting the American-Muslim community. Experience managing digital and print content creation. Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, and budget oversight. Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community members, partner organizations, and policymakers. Passion for social justice, civil liberties, and promoting equality and inclusivity. Proficiency in utilizing digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems. Knowledge of relevant applications such as SharePoint, Office365, OneDrive, and case management software is preferred. Ability to travel to attend meetings and events in various Southern California cities.
