Key Responsibilities (List of material responsibilities and essentials duties which must be completed in achieving the objectives of the position) As a management representative of Nursing Administration, manages hospital activity and works under the direction of the physician and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide nursing care to patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations. Utilizes the nursing process to make continuing assessments of the patient’s total health needs; implements nursing interventions based on assessment data; develops and implements the nursing plan of care and evaluates the patient’s response. Strives to provide excellent patient care with compassion, tact, cheerfulness, accuracy, patience, flexibility in scheduling, calmness in emergency, and ability to work well with team members, receiving and applying feedback from peers and superiors. Assists with orientation and training of all staff as requested. A. Coordination and Supervision of Nursing Personnel · Manage hospital activity in the absence of Department Directors and Nursing Administration. · Coordinates staffing for current and next shift for optimal productivity, taking into consideration patient acuity and staff expertise. · Utilize human and material resources effectively. · Evaluate staffing needs based on patient acuity and productivity and calls in emergency staff, as necessary. · Demonstrates the ability to support staff with problem solving and decision making. · Provide and manage constructive feedback. · Provides input regarding employee performance evaluations and competencies. · Addresses and reports policy non-conformities. · Attends patient care huddles and LDI trainings, as directed. · Engages and communicates with staff to ensure consistency and standardization of information. B. Coordination of Patient Care Quality and Patient Satisfaction · Makes clinical rounds to provide clinical resource to nursing staff, assess work flow, and assist with patient through put. · Responds to and participates in emergency calls: Code Blue (Arrest-Adult/Pediatric), Code Pink (Infant/Child Abduction), Code Red (Fire), Code Yellow (Bomb Threat), and Rapid Response. · Assists with coordination of admissions to the floors and to outside health care facilities. · Assists with appropriate body transfer to the morgue and completion of all required processes to meet the requirements of the medical examiner and state regulatory compliance. · Serves as a clinical resource to staff, assisting staff with patient admissions, discharges, and clinical tasks. · Works to meet Patient, Physician and Staff Satisfaction goals by setting the example, using scripting and contributing to teamwork on the units. · Contribute to attainment of Nursing Division goal of reaching 90^th percentile for patient satisfaction. C. Coordination of Nursing Process and Compliance. · Provides evidence-based care so as to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired Condition and hospital readmissions. · Practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials. · Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired infections and other conditions. · Serves as a clinical resource person and assists with educating the teams on new medications, policies, and procedures · Assists with Performance Improvement activities on the units. · Analyzes the assessment data to identify possible needs by staff, patients, and patient families. · Proactively supports staff to ensure our patient’s progress towards attainment of desired outcomes, including plan of care revisions, as necessary. Qualifications (Statements regarding minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, military service, required certifications, etc.) Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate of a Nursing Diploma program. Licensure: Current, valid Arizona RN license or compact state RN license. Certification: · Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. · De-escalation Techniques course within 6 months of hire. Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience as RN. Preferences (Preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e., multi-lingual, master’s degree)) Experience: RN experience in a variety of areas, including Med/Surg, Critical Care, OB, Nursery, and Pediatric care. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Special Position Requirements (Optional section: any travel, security, risk, hazard or related special conditions which apply to the position) Exposure Categories: Category III: Expected duties do not have potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Work Requirements (Optional section: work requirements for physical or other important issues which relate to the job) · Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills. · Able to manage technical business equipment, i.e. phone, fax, computer etc. · Able to assist with the movement of an adult patient weighing up to 300 lbs. · Able to care for patients with infectious diseases. · Ability to sit for 3-5 hours per day. · Able to stand for 3-5 hours per day. · Ability to walk for 3-5 hours day.
