A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RESTAURANT ASSISTANT MANAGER As a Restaurant Assistant Manager, you play a crucial role in running your assigned restaurant in the absence of the general manager. You manage the flow of all restaurant operations, ensuring that budgeted sales and profit goals are consistently being met. You do this by handling finances and making a daily run to the bank when needed. By implementing training programs for your hourly team members, you work hard to improve unit operations and the overall guest experience. You also assist with strategizing and executing annual financial, local restaurant marketing, guest service, and human resource objectives for your assigned unit. In addition, you help with the recruitment, training, and retention of all team members to keep your food service team going strong. You ensure that there are always adequate levels of food, paper, kitchen, safety, janitorial, uniform, linen, and other miscellaneous supplies. Staying in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations is of the utmost importance, which is why you are diligent about correct sanitation practices and safety measures being maintained. You check that all equipment and the structure of the building are always in working shape and meet all federal guidelines.
