What Youll Do: As a Resin Sciences Technical Manager, youll be at the forefront of our innovation, managing the team and R and D efforts to support business growth. The Resin Sciences Technical Manager will collaborate with other R and D members as well as members of the Operations team to ensure the successful scale up of CPVC resins. The incumbent will aggressively seek to protect Lubrizol's IP to ensure that we maintain a competitive edge. What Were Looking For: : Ensure excellent personal and process safety, regulatory, and housekeeping performance in laboratory operations.: Manage independent research team's efforts in CPVC chemistry, processing, and characterization of CPVC resin to improve processing and product performance.: Oversee efforts to identify and utilize new analytical techniques to advance understanding of CPVC resin structure and physical properties.: Collaborate with Operations, Applications, Technical Service, Procurement, and manufacturing plants to scale up new products and process improvements.: Consult with internal and external stakeholders as an expert in resin chemistry, process, properties to advance technology.: Lead cross:functional project teams to achieve business goals. : Maintain accurate and clear records and written reports on experimental data and interpretation of results. Evaluate experimental and production data and identify trends.: Supervise resin characterization and chlorination lab operations including operation and troubleshooting of instruments.: Champion intellectual property efforts by developing a deep knowledge of the patent landscape and track pertinent literature. Ensure that the team aggressively seeks IP protection when possible.: Support plant resin evaluations to ensure new material implementations meet necessary quality, processing, material handling and approval body certification requirements.: Design and review outcomes of plant trials for quality and process improvements.: Communicate effectively to a global audience between key stakeholders across all levels of the organization. Skills That Make a Difference: : Ph.D. in chemistry/polymer science/materials science (or closely related field) from an accredited college/university and 5+ years of experience in an R and D or production environment focused on polymer synthesis/processing or a BS in chemical engineering with 10 years of experience. : Ability to take initiative, lead decisively, and work independently with minimal supervision.: Excellent organizational and written and verbal communications skills.: Demo
