Research Associate II/Sr Research Associate, Applied Immunology
Location:
Cambridge, MA
Description:
Repertoire Immune Medicines is a biotechnology company working to unlock and direct the remarkable power of the human immune system to treat cancer and autoimmune disease. The company was founded on the belief that understanding the repertoire of T cell receptor (TCR)-antigen immune synapses that maintain health and drive disease represents one of the greatest opportunities for innovation in medical science. Repertoire scientists created and developed the DECODE TM platform, which allows in-depth characterization of TCR-antigen pairs, and the ability to deploy this information in the form of novel targeted immune medicines to fundamentally reprogram the immune system to kill tumors or induce immune homeostasis . From its sites in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Zurich, Switzerland, Repertoire’s team is advancing a pipeline of DECODE-enabled immune medicines. For cancer, we are developing a pipeline of TCR bispecifics molecules for treatment of multiple cancer types. In addition, we are developing a pipeline of mRNA tolerizing vaccines for treatment of autoimmune diseases. Repertoire was founded by Flagship Pioneering and is supported by a strong investor base. In addition, the company recently entered a strategic partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb to develop tolerizing vaccines for up to three autoimmune diseases. On Site in Cambridge 5 Days per Week Role Overview Repertoire is seeking a motivated Research Associate II/Senior Research Associate to join the Applied Immunology team. This team is responsible for innovation and early development of Repertoire’s immunotherapeutics. The successful candidate will support a team of scientists that are working to develop and validate our growing pipeline of projects in both Oncology and Autoimmunity. The candidate will work as part of a cross-functional team of immunologists and protein biochemists to lead in vitro/ex vivo assay development and to support in vivo pharmacology activities for our best-in-class therapeutics. A successful candidate will have a self-starting attitude and the ability to focus and execute in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment. There is a significant opportunity for career growth and continuous learning while working as a part of our collaborative, cross-functional immune medicine development project teams. Key Responsibilities Plan and execute experimental projects under the supervision of scientific project leads. Perform downstream assays to support in vivo studies that screen lead molecules. Integrate new technologies and assays to deliver improved assay readouts. Culture and maintain primary immune cells and tumor cell lines. Work as a valuable member of the cross-functional immunology project teams. Support general lab operations with reagent preparation, instrument maintenance, and adherence to lab safety procedures. Maintain and implement good laboratory practices, including accurate electronic laboratory notebook entries, instrument and reagent validation, and personnel safety precautions. Use strong verbal and written communication skills to share scientific and project updates to the inter-disciplinary research team. Qualifications/Experience B .S. with 2+ years of industrial experience or a M.S. in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or related field with demonstrated research success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the following: Propagation and banking of tumor cell lines. Hands-on experience with processing mouse tissue samples and establishing ex vivo cultures. Flow cytometry using panels of >4 colors. Immune cell functional assays such as cytotoxicity, immune cell priming, expansion, activation, and cytokine readouts (ELISA and MSD). Collaborative work within and across teams interfacing with both internal and external members. Accurate data recording and archiving in ELNs. Additional expertise in the following areas is a plus: Experience in assays including Western blotting, IF/IHC for microscopy imaging. Methods of T cell culture to drive reactivity, phenotype, and yield. Exposure to molecular biology and techniques for sample preparation. (PCR, qPCR, and nucleic acid purification). Strong organizational and communication skills along with excellent attention to detail. Repertoire is committed towards social responsibility and developing an inclusive culture. Much as the power of the immune system lies in the diversity of T and B cells, our work requires the creativity and ingenuity of a diverse workforce.
