REGISTERED NURSE Operating Room/PACU “We encourage Military Veterans and Military Spouses to apply" SITE OF SERVICE: On-site at Atlanta VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) 1670 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033 and associated VA clinics Full Time (52 Weeks) POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS: Education : Associates Degree in Nursing or Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Accreditation : Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Licensure: Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice Registered Nurse in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Cardiac Certifications : Must have the following hands-on certification by a provider recognized by the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life support (ACLS) Experience: Must have at least three (3) years current experience current experiencein an operating room setting exclusive of agency assigned tours of duty andshall be able to scrub and/or circulate and must have worked within the lastsix months in an operating room setting. Additional Certification: Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certificate accredited by the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI).- Preferred U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen. English Language Requirement: Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers. Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract . DUTIES: Operating Room (OR) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Unit. Demonstrates positive effective interpersonal skills. Operate mechanical equipment in the operating room: Electro-Surgical unit, fracture table, suction (wall outlet portable), and nerve Stimulator. Circulating Nurse’s specific duties. All nurses in the operating room must be certified to perform the following routine scrub nurse duties and procedures on all patients: Demonstrates proper aseptic technique Operates mechanics of OR table Operates mechanics of OR lights Assists anesthesiologist Positions patients properly Opening room Conducts sponge count Completes worksheet Scrub Nurse specific duties. All nurses in the operating room must also be certified to perform the following routine scrub nurse duties and procedures on all patients: Demonstrates proper aseptic technique Minor surgery Rectal surgery Abdominal surgery GU surgery Eye surgery Orthopedic surgery ENT surgery Bronchoscopy procedure Vascular surgery Neurosurgery Chest surgery May be required to work with COVID 19 positive patients and Patients Under Investigation (PUI), for COVID 19. Inserting and maintenance of peripheral lines HOURS: 8 hour shifts- Monday-Friday (Duty hours range from 0700 – 1700 and 0700 –2100) SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
