DEPARTMENT: Family Services CLASSIFICATION : Non-Exempt CATEGORY : Administrative DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with and provide services to Native families in need of assistance. Safeguard confidentiality of Family Services' activities, communications, and records at all times. Accompany parents or primary caretaker on shopping trips. Provide transportation on shopping trips as needed. Work with family on financial planning, teaching budgeting and shopping skills, ensuring basic needs are being met and identifying funds available for other expenses. Maintain accurate Tribal and Social Security ledgers. Review accounts prior to processing payments to ensure accounts are not overdrawn or in excess of the amount set forth by the Tribe and Social Security Administration. Participate in internal and external audits to ensure client accounts are accurate. Perform monthly reconciliation of ledgers and bank records. Work with the Meskwaki Financial Literacy Committee and attend meetings, trainings, and activities as required. Investigate allegations of fiduciary abuse of minor and vulnerable adults within the Meskwaki community, report findings and make appropriate recommendations. Work with and coordinate services with Family Services case managers, Tribal Departments, Social Security Administration, Tribal bank, Settlement School, and other agencies as required. Ensure clients annual tax obligation is completed. Have the ability to negotiate debt with collection agencies; advocate for clients with delinquent accounts. Assist with needs assessment and research necessary to further develop the Family Services protective payee program. Distribute and review applications for childcare services. Collect and review all childcare documentation needed for determining level of eligibility. Determine client eligibility for childcare services based on income and other criteria and inform applicant of eligibility determination. Review and process all payment requests for Voucher Program. Generate required financial and narrative reports. Maintain and update childcare information in Data Tracker Maintain client records and review for compliance with health and safety requirements. Complete site visits to private providers' homes and Day Care Centers to ensure compliance with governing regulations. Develop and maintain a list of qualified and approved private providers and Day Care Centers. Prepare and distribute monthly client statements and correspondence. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related area and two years of experience working with families in areas listed above OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Prefer prior experience with budgeting and/or accounting. Must be knowledgeable and proficient in PC work processing, spreadsheet, Internet and email, as well as presentation and publishing software. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have pleasant disposition and the ability to meet and communicate with the public with tact, discretion and diplomacy, while keeping the strictest confidentiality Must possess a valid driver's license. Willingness to learn and incorporate skills in the cultural context of the Meskwaki community. Must submit to and successfully complete a background investigation. SUPERVISION: Direct supervision by the Family Services Director SALARY LEVEL: Annual salary range: $39,894 - 55,515.00 Applicants will be required to submit to a background check and to a pre-employment drug test.
