Orthopaedic South Surgical Center is looking for a top-performer with solid knowledge of Pre-admission nursing. This is a fast paced environment that is driven to reach the highest quality and satisfaction outcomes in Georgia.Pre-admission testing nurses prepare our patients for surgery. As a Pre-admission testing nurse or PAT nurse, your duties include overseeing intake, during which you perform an initial physical assessment and interview the patient to obtain their medical history. You also perform any pre-operative assessments and tests the surgeon has ordered and you may be expected to draw blood for lab work. PAT nurses are among the first people patients deal with as they prepare to have surgery within our center, so you are expected to help them understand the process, answer any questions they might have, and discuss their post-surgical care plan with them.Required Skills:The PAT Nurse is a professional Registered Nurse who is responsible for:Pre-op phone interviews, screening and pre-op teaching/education of patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures with or without anesthesia/sedation to assure that the patient is properly prepared for the experience.The nurse via telephone collects comprehensive health histories and develops a plan of care designed to meet the pre-anesthesia, physical, psychological, educational, socio-cultural and spiritual needs of the patient and their family.Must have excellent interviewing and assessment skills that are used to identify potential or actual problems that may occur.Responsible for retrieval and review of pre op testing including labs, EKG's, cardiac reports, radiology reports and physician clearances.The nurse pre-screens patients using set criteria to assess if further evaluation is needed prior to surgery by surgeon, anesthesiologist or other discipline.Communicates any issues to physicians and other members of the health care team to ensure the highest quality of patient care is provided.Required Experience:Valid GA RN license3 years clinical RN experienceEducation - High School Diploma or EGD certification.CPR certificationEvidence of leadership qualities.Strong ethical and moral character references.Language skills adequate for high–level written, interpersonal and telephone communication.USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date.
