Job Overview:The Post-Conviction Relief Attorney will report to the Supervising Attorney and will be responsible for managing post-conviction relief cases, advising clients on legal matters, representing clients in court proceedings, and collaborating with the Post Conviction Relief Team. Duties:Manage a caseload and client interactions under the supervision of the Supervising Attorney.Collaborate with the Post Conviction Relief Team of Attorneys and legal assistants.Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.Handle post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce, and early termination of probation.Experience with immigration law is highly desirable, as this position would involve interactions with both criminal and immigration practices.Attend motion hearings on behalf of clients and provide clients with advice following each hearing.Handle open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing on behalf of other criminal attorneys within the firm.Manage court appearances, drafting motions, interviewing clients, and conducting legal research.Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.Manage workload of cases efficiently.Provide legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits.Criminal defense experience or immigration law experience is required.Experience handling criminal cases at the state and local levels.Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.Utilize exceptional interpersonal skills in all interactions. Education:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications:Admission to the California State Bar. Skills:Legal research and analysis.Case management.Trial preparation and representation.Drafting legal documents.Client advisory and communication.Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (preferred).
