Plumber Job Overview: The primary function of the Plumbing Journeyman is to configure, install, fit, and maintain various piping systems, and ensure smooth operation of those systems. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Master Plumber. Inspect assigned area on a routine basis and performs maintenance where necessary to keep facility in functioning and serviceable condition Complete daily, weekly, or monthly checklists of pre-scheduled building and equipment maintenance procedure Report any major maintenance needs and recommend corrective action as appropriate Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps; cuts or bores holes prior to project. Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards of old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with EPA and OSHA requirements. Ability to lift 15 pounds at a time Prolonged periods standing and stretching to install and repair pipes and pipe fittings Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches Comply with safety regulations Follow written and verbal instructions Handle exposure to dust, fumes and high noise levels Able to handle high stress situations and frequent interruptions. Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times. Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work. Regular interaction with peers on-site, including face-to-face meetings and spontaneous conferences. Operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Follow company quality, safety, and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
