Job Summary Performs general plumbing maintenance and installation, ability to troubleshoot and resolve plumbing problems, adjust flush-a-meters, replace section of plumbing lines, toilets, valves and plumbing devices as required by the plumbing trade. Maintains all water and sewer lines and other associated equipment. Able to soder and weld pipes associated with plumbing fixtures. Informs supervisor of any problems. Fills out and completes any assigned work orders as required. Maintains preventive maintenance on equipment. Provides cost estimate of material used or needed for repair. Responds to radio calls in adequate time frame. Completes requisitions of materials needed for repair. Attends and keeps up to date with all equipment in-service material. Assists co-workers, if needed to accomplish job task when the supervisor approves. Must be able to report to work in the event of a disaster and after-hours emergencies. Communicate with hospital personnel to inform them or repair or status of repairs, taking place in their area. Performs job duties in accordance with applicable trade and standards set s forth by AHCA and JACHO, if applicable. Adhere to current rules and regulations related to plumbing so that systems oass inspection the first time. Additional Information 1. Candidates/incumbents must meet the minimum qualifications as detailed below, a. Graduation from high school, supplemented by completion of a union, private (in-house), military or trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job work. b. 4 years as a journey-level plumber/fitter in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations settings. 2. Through knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade; operation of building automation systems, applicable state and federal health and safety code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment. 3. Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely; perform heavy physical labor; read and comprehend plans and blueprints as appropriate to the plumbing trade; install, maintain and repair broad range of plumbing fixtures and components, pumps, valves, boiler systems, compressors, alarm systems and chemical treatment systems; read and comprehend plans and blueprints as appropriate to trade; analyze and respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations; train and direct the work on other classified staff in the area; follow and give oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population. Lifting Requirements Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to safety use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
